We are very happy to announce the 4th edition of Graphème, again featuring the work of more than a dozen contemporary composers. With work drawing upon graphic notation, text scores, photo-montage and performance instructions, a.o, each piece represents the many and varied approaches to sound and gestural organisation of materials utilized by composers today. Each work, different in their own ways, share a sense of cooperation with the performer, which, while, becoming more prevalent in contemporary music, illustrate the many differences and developments in notation and the more traditional relationship between composer and interpreter.

We are proud to launch the 3rd edition of Graphème. Featuring compositions from 10 unique and original voices from contemporary music, this colourful edition shows works that draw on rigorous conceptual frameworks and provide an often sensual dialog between composer, performer, sound and space in spirit of collaborative creativity.
Some composers embrace deep and abstract conceptual propositions while others exploit the aesthetic potential of graphic sign making to transfer ideas into a sounding choreography of possibilities, inviting performers and listeners to find connections in unexpected places.

We have successfully launched the 2nd installment of Graphème. As in the first edition, we find new ways to talk about organised sound and creative solutions to artistic questions and endeavours.

In this second edition we present twelve compositions from another set of varied and distinguished artists. These artists share a passionate interest in finding and expressing a personal language and vision beyond the standard systems of western notation, and represent the wide creative spectrum that makes up innovative new music composition today. The twelve pieces explore notions of the score as a result of interdisciplinary collaboration, architectural systems as inspiration, instrument building as composition, printing and materiality as sources for interpretation and performative practice, as well as investigations of personal vocabulary and shared histories. Many of the scores in this edition are graphically beautiful and intriguing, and hold their own as works of visual art.

Since launching the first Graphème edition in the autumn of 2021 we have received an overwhelming response, great reviews and seen copies distributed around the globe. We held a launch concert where six of the compositions were played and have learned that several of the edition’s scores have been performed and studied by others.
